| Special Warfare Operator 2nd Class (SEAL) Shapoor Alexander Ghane Jr., he was always known as Alexander. Alexander dreamed of becoming a United States Navy SEAL since he was a little boy. He enlisted in June of 2004 after graduating from Sierra Vista High School in Las Vegas. He began SEAL training five months later at the Coronado Naval Amphibious Base, and later was assigned to a SEAL team there. He earned several military awards and decorations, including the Navy Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Expert Rifleman Marksmanship Medal and Expert Pistol Marksmanship Medal. Alexander enjoyed the fellowship of his teammates and making them laugh, lightening the mood. He was determined and humble, respectful and humorous, and greatly loved by all of those he has touched throughout his life. Alexander was injured during a SEAL training exercise in DeSoto County Mississippi. He was evacuated by helicopter to the Elvis Presley Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., where he was pronounced dead. He is survived by his mother, Farideh Ghane; and his sister, Tala Ghane, both of Las Vegas; his half-sister, Marina (Eric) Holland; his grandparents; aunts; uncles; a niece; and fiancée Tina Borys. He was preceded in death by his father Shapoor. Bio written by Sue. | ||||
